*** YOUR DAILY DO’S – FRIDAY, 7 AM ***
Remember how, the day the Trump U case settled, DJT invited Kanye West and a few of his closest photographer friends to Trump Tower? The man understands misdirection. And here’s a really, really important question… at what point did we all take our eyes off of Russia?
The administration is throwing a shitstorm at us daily. (Pardon, my French, but accuracy is important). We can and will respond strongly to A LOT of things. But reaction is only half the game – we have to bring the thunder to the places where they don’t want us. Let's not be driven by the headlines. There's an important story that we must return to.
As you all know, the Russian government attempted to interfere with our election by promulgating fake news and sponsoring hacking of the Clinton campaign. There is plenty to suggest it went much further. So here's our message: "We demand the Senate create a special select committee to investigate the scope and impact of Russian interference in the 2016 elections and potential communication with the Trump campaign. This is an existential threat to our country and, as an American citizen, I demand that my Congress engage in a thorough, comprehensive and transparent investigation immediately."
We are committing, like we committed with #GoLong on funding education, to getting answers on Russia. We’re calling it #FromWAWithLove.
Why are we asking for this? A special, select committee is appointed specifically for the investigation and has no other business. It will be bipartisan and independent. And hearings held will be public.
1. Contact Mitch McConnell and tell him that Americans demand this. According to a comment by a McCain staffer (to a member of our group), he is THE person holding this up.
2. Contact John McCain and Lindsey Graham to thank them for their former support of a select committee and ask them to continue to push for this.
3. Contact Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray to ask that they advocate strongly for a select committee on Russia.
BONUS! Host a postcard or letter writing party to contact the legislators above. You can write one letter to McConnell and CC the rest. Sure, calls are great and snail mail is slow. But we are going long here. This is just the sort of message we want coming in to their offices continuously. And hey, even your some Republican friends may be interested in sending this message. Possible interference in our elections is NOT a partisan issue.
