*** YOUR DAILY DO’S – WEDNESDAY, 7 AM EDITION ***
1. The day is here – Tom Price’s confirmation hearing for Secretary of Health and Human Services starts right now. Tom Price is anti-choice, is leading the charge to gut the ACA, and thinks that birth control is like SUPER easy for all women to obtain. #CheckYourPrivilegeTom#SomeoneGiveThatManAVaginaForADAY
(UPDATE: Please note that Tom Price will actually be confirmed by the FINANCE committee, so call the Finance Committee, not the HELP committee.)
OH, and at the exact same time, Scott Pruitt will be facing questions at his hearing for heading up the EPA! Scott Pruitt is a climate change skeptic who doesn’t believe the government should have the right to regulate carbon emissions.
Check out our absolutely kickass Blockade Doc and call our committee members RIGHT NOW about your concerns.
2. Step out of our echo chamber and read this article from Fox News covering Betsy DeVos’ hearing. Don’t try to rebut it, just read it. If you need to take a step back, take some deep breaths, and have a drink of water, do it. But read the article. This is what many of our fellow Americans are reading:
As you read, think about how this message is different from the one we’ve been reading about in more left-leaning news outlets. Why is THIS message appealing? What about this message could YOU relate to? Comment with your insights, and remember, the point of this exercise is to consider another point of view, not to confirm your own point of view.
3. A number of us are looking for ways to have our voices heard on a local level, especially in terms of influencing the primary/caucus process. I cannot emphasize this enough: Become a PCO. As a PCO, you job is to connect with your neighbors and remind them of upcoming elections. About half of these positions go unfilled, so our community coverage is spotty at best. OH, and as a PCO, you also lead the caucuses. So if you’re passionate about reforming the caucus system, this is a great first step. Any Pantsuit PCO’s in the house? Comment here and let us know what your experience is like!
