*** YOUR DAILY DO'S - [6/2] *** Rachel English
Hello Indivisibles! Perhaps we should rename these the Less-Than-Daily-Do’s? Special thanks to Julia Ricketts and Sandi Olson for all the work they put into today’s post.
Comment to raise this post's profile. Can’t do the actions today? Your ‘Like’ might put this within eyeshot of someone who can. But, you know, do the actions today ;-)
As you know, two brave men died and a third was injured last week in Portland as they defended two girls from a racist, anti-Muslim attack. In a baffling and disturbing response, the Chair of the Multomah Republican Party expressed an intention to hire militias and known hate groups for party “security”, blaming leftists and antifascists for the “throwing the first stone” and inciting violence. Read more here:
This is an appalling and unacceptable suggestion — and an inversion of fact. Please join in these Daily Do’s to honor the heroes and decry the use of militias and hate groups in political life.
1. Donate → While many have wonderfully rushed to help the families of the victims of last week's horrendous attack, less has happened for the two young women who are now dealing with the emotional repercussions of being the target of such violence and hatred. If you are financially able, please donate to the girls' transportation and mental health needs through this YouCaring page - https://www.youcaring.com/survivorsofthemaxattack-833557
The surviving victim posted a video asking folks to donate there instead of or as well as to the families of the girls. It’s a beautiful message and I’ll post it in the comments.
2. Email → Send emails to WA & OR officials, write letters to the editor, and amplify on social media.
Sample letters in the comments -- copy, paste, and customize with your own words! Prefer making calls? Go for it, and add relevant phone numbers in the comments for others to share.
Thanks for weighing in with your ideas and “done!” to encourage others to participate.
