***DAILY DO’S – FRIDAY 6PM EDITION***
First, thanks to everyone for making a difficult year a bit more bearable. It’s made me hopeful to see so many people stepping up and taking action and I know I'm not alone. So thank you again.
As we come to the end of the week and the end of the year. It’s time to follow up on a few of our ongoing action items.
1. Despite a big win earlier this month, the next administration is keen to see the Dakota Access Pipeline finished. For the now the fight has shifted from Standing Rock to banking interests. Yesterday, I shared information about the movement to defund DAPL ( http://350seattle.org/defund-dapl/). Have you checked to see if your bank is part of the problem? Have you considered attending a local event in protest of DAPL? Share how you’ve gotten involved in the comments.
2.We made another big ask yesterday to help stop the House from passing the REINS Act and Midnight Rules Act next week. Did you contact your representative (thanks to everyone who completed the poll!)? Are you following the bills’ schedules? If not, check out next week’s schedule here http://bit.ly/2irc9iD or sign up to get bill notifications here https://ifttt.com/sunlightfoundation. Be prepared to make more calls next week. Heck, take five seconds and set a calendar reminder to email your representative on Tuesday, January 3rd when the new session starts.
3.Finally, have you thought about how you’re prepared to make a difference in 2017? How do you want to be involved? What has inspired you to make a particular commitment? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
HAVE A HAPPY, HEALTHY, AND WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!
